TANGENTIAL PROJECTS A group of independent projects are integrated in ExperimentaDesign2003 - Lisbon Biennale . These have been given the name of Tangential Projects and, because of their conceptual logic, quality and the innovative nature of their contents, they fit in perfectly with the other activities programmed for this year's event, dedicated to the theme of Beyond Consumption. The ten tangential projects that have been adopted are, however, of different natures: MVB, SounSystem, Wasteband, Ice Screams, Pop Solid, the Aardman retrospective and Superficial are a set of proposals that were presented by their promoters and which EXD03 decided to include in its programme. Consuming Bellissimo, Sente-se and Absolut are the result of partnerships with the Italian magazine Label, the Centro Cultural de Belém, and Absolut Vodka, respectively. They each therefore represent a joint project undertaken by EXD03 and the partners involved. All the Tangential Projects will provide a new way of looking at the artistic universes and the culture of design, which together form the mainstays of this Lisbon Biennale. — PROGRAM   ICE SCREAMS Edifício Interpress Sept 17   Ice Screams is an ephemeral event by Elder Monteiro, Ricardo Custódio, Toni Grilo and Samuel Baron. 13 creators and product designers were challenged to reflect on the cone waffle, and this is the result.   POP SOLID Bairro Alto Sept 18 - 30   The Pop Solid group presents a collection of domestic objects produced by designers with the same cultural matrix and identical passion: to produce simplicity and coherence.   MVB Loja da Atalaia Sept 20 - Oct 31   MVB is an exhibition/ of new furniture conceived by the designer Miguel Vieira Baptista.   SUPERFICIAL Fashion Clinic Sept 20 - Nov 02   Ilja den Hollander works essentially focused on behavior and on regular situations that grow until the limit of the absurd.   CONSUMING BELLISSIMO  Cais da Pedra Sept 20 - Nov 02   Four items for four elements | Beyond visual consumption This exhibition by the Bellissimo studio and Label magazine presents two views on how design goes beyond consumption in the creative process itself.   ABSOLUT INSPIRATION Lisbon Welcome Center  Sept 22 - Oct 04   Presentation of furniture commissions by Absolut and international designers.   SOUND SYSTEM Cisterna FBAUL Sept 21 - Oct 10   Sound System, by Fernando Brízio, shows the result of a working process that uses the sound of words to sketch shapes for objects.   WASTEBAND Casa d'Os Dias da Água Sept 23 - Oct 26   The Wasteband performance lies somewhere between a science fiction fairy tale and the structure of "Tupperware parties", where the spectacle of the future is what is on sale to the audience. On 20 Sept, at 6pm, there will be an open rehearsal at the Lugar Comum followed by a discussion.   RETROSPECTIVA AARDMAN Cinemas King October   A selection of national and international animation. This will include a retrospective on AARDMAN, one of animation's most inventive and visionary producers, founded in 1972 by David Sproxton and Peter Lord. The four programmes/sessions will give a chronological perspective on the producer's work showing its importance and tremendous diversity.   SENTE-SE CCB Oct 30 - Nov 29   Course developed in partnership with ExperimentaDesign, aimed at widening knowledge of the chair, an object of singular cultural importance.
