Thom Andersen Retrospective
Films by Bruce Conner
Morgan Fisher Retrospective
Reverence: The Films of Owen Land

Film curator: Ricardo Matos Cabo

True to the theme The Medium is the Matter, the fourth edition of the Lisbon Biennale’s film series presents the distinct works of filmmakers who, through different approaches and strategies, developed a critical perspective towards the most common forms of cinematographic production and representation, enabling us to look differently at film and Film History in general.

Submitting film to an intense scrutiny and analysis, the works of Morgan Fisher, Thom Andersen, Bruce Conner and Owen Land allow the viewers not only to realize the constraints of their production and making, but also to question our understanding and assumptions of film as “medium”.
