Jeffrey Keyton

Jeffrey Keyton (US)

Graduate in Fine Arts from the Pratt Institute, Jeffrey Keyton is the Senior Vice President head of design for MTV. For almost three decades, his constantly changing and evolving work has been instrumental in helping the music channel become one of the world's most recognized brands. His work has been recognized by every major institution including the Art Director’s Club, AIGA, The One Show, BDA and the Herschel Levitt Award for Lifetime achievement from Pratt Institute. He lives in Princeton New Jersey with his wife and designer Stacy Drummond and their son.

Jianping He

Jianping He (CN)

(b.1973, China) Graphic designer, professor and freelance publisher currently living in Berlin. He studied graphic design at the China Academy of Art (1991-­94), Master of Fine Arts in Berlin University of the Arts (1997-­2001) and had his Ph.D. of cultural history in Free University of Berlin (2011). He used to serve in Berlin University of the Arts, employed as a guest professor by Hong Kong Polytechnic University, and China Academy of Art in Hangzhou, and also as the Ph.D. student's supervisor of China Academy of Art. In 2002 he established his own design studio and publishing house, hesign, based in Berlin with the other branch in Hangzhou since 2008. He is also a member of the Alliance Graphique Internationale (AGI).

João Castro

João Castro (PT)

(b.1984, Porto) Has studied Biology and gave up, has done Graffiti and studied Design. Questions the validity of the designer. Currently teaches communication at ESAD Matosinhos. In his drawing he is rational: it has no borders and adds the monumental vision to the rational exercise of the graphic area. Founder of The Royal Studio (2010) and member of the We Came From Space (2014). Works for local and international clients, and summing routinely time-zones from -9 to +11h.

João Drumond

João Drumond (PT)

(b.1990, Madeira) Designer, artist and illustrator. Currently based in Porto, where he graduated with a bachelor in Communication Design from FBAUP. He studied Art Direction at ECAL (Lausanne, Switzerland) and since then he divides his time between commissions, self­inniciated projects and exhibitions.

João Machado

João Machado (PT)

(b.1982, Lisboa) Designer graduated in Lisbon, complemented his academic and professional experience in several countries: studio Base Design, Barcelona (ES); History of Art Department at the University of Colorado, Denver (US); and London (UK), city where he completed a master's degree in Graphic Design at the Chelsea College of Art & Design. João collaborated with Atelier Pedro Falcão and currently works with Vera Cortês Art Agency and at his own studio, designing for editorial and artistic projects.

Jonathan Barnbrook

Jonathan Barnbrook (UK)

Graphic designer who, since leaving college in 1990, has chosen to work with a mixture of mainly cultural institutions, activist groups, believing that graphic design can be a force for cultural and social debate. He has as a result completed a steady stream of political personal work. He is also known for his collaborations with Adbusters the anti-advertising collective, Damien Hirst, and is a long time visual collaborator with David Bowie. The font Mason he has designed, was on of the first digital typefaces acquired by MoMA, New York in 2013. His graphic design was exhibited in a major retrospective at the Design Museum, London in 2007, a touring exhibition that has been to over 10 countries.

Jorge Silva

Jorge Silva (PT)

(b. 1958, Lisboa) Communication designer dedicated to editorial design and art direction. He was art director for newspapers like Combate and O Independente and for the supplements Y and Mil Folhas of Público newspaper, being awarded several prizes from The Society for News Design for his work. He ran several magazines, like LX Metrópole, of Parque Expo, that originated the creation of atelier Silva Designers, specialized in cultural branding. He was art director of Agenda Cultural Lisboa, XXI, Blimunda and for the Leya editorial group. In early 2015, he became artistic consultant at Imprensa Nacional-Casa da Moeda and responsible for the concept and publishing of Colecção D, a book collection dedicated to portuguese designers. He created Alamanaque Silva, a blog about portuguese illustration. He is a member of Alliance Graphique Internationale (AGI), since 2012.

José Bártolo

José Bártolo (PT)

(b.1972, Maputo) Works as a professor, researcher and design curator since 1998. Coordinating Professor with Aggregation, he is currently President of the Scientific Council of ESAD Matosinhos. He is part of the design evaluation commission of FCT and A3ES. He is also Scientific Director of ESAD-IDEA - Investigação em Design e Arte and researcher at CECL of Universidade Nova de Lisboa. He is editor of the Pil Arte & Design magazine and was author and coordinator of the Colecção Design Português. He curated, among others exhibitions, “Colofón” (2015), “Duets” (2015), “Arquitectura Revista” (2015), “A Liberdade da Imagem” (2014), “A revolução tem de estar perto” (2014) or “Almanaque - Uma história do design português em revista” (2013). I will be the commissioner of the portuguese representation for 19th Exhibition Triennale di Milan in 2016.
