WARM-UP EXPERIMENTADESIGN LISBOA 2009

 
 
ExperimentaDesign is looking to stimulate and engage an ever-evolving public in a transdisciplinary reflection in the areas of design, architecture and contemporary culture. For a more rewarding understanding and contact with Peter Zumthor’s work, a diversified education program of activities and guided tour has been devised for visitors of all age groups. It features guided tours led by leading specialists in architecture, children’s activities and tours for students and professionals.

With a view to affording an indepth, more enriching contact with this seminal author, ExperimentaDesign invites 4 specialists in the field of architecture to share their personal insights in a series of guided tours:

ANA VAZ MILHEIRO (Lisbon, 1968) holds a degree in architecture and lectures History and Theory of Contemporary Architecture at ISCTE and Universidade Autónoma de Lisboa. She holds a PhD by the Faculty of Architecture and Urbanism of Universidade de São Paulo. The author of A Construção do Brasil – Relações com a Cultura Arquitectónica Portuguesa (2005) and A Minha Casa é um Avião (2007), she is an architecture critic for Portuguese daily newspaper and has published articles in Portugal, Spain and Brazil.

RICARDO CARVALHO (Lisbon, 1971). A graduate of the Architecture Faculty of Universidade Técnica de Lisboa (1995), he founded the office Ricardo Carvalho + Joana Vilhena Arquitectos. Besides lecturing in the Architecture Departament in Universidade Autónoma de Lisboa, he is an architecture critic for Público newspaper and has authored critical essays featured in specialized publications. The co-director of JA (Architects’ Journal) since 2005, Ricardo Carvalho lives and works in Lisbon.

DIOGO SEIXAS LOPES (Lisbon, 1972) graduated from FAUTL in 1996 and works in professional partnership with Patrícia Barbas. One of the directors of Prototypo magazine (1999-2004), he published the book Cimêncio with Nuno Cera (2003). A participant in the Portuguese representation at the 9th Venice Architecture Biennale (2004), he has curated the exhibitions João Mendes Ribeiro, at CAV Coimbra and Aires Mateus: Arquitectura, at CCB. He lectures at Universidade Autónoma de Lisboa (2000 – 05), he is currently completing his PhD dissertation at the Swiss Federal Technology Institute.

GONÇALO BYRNE (Alcobaça, 1941) is the author of a vast, diversified, award-winning body of work that has been widely exhibited nationally and internationally. With particular emphasis on heritage sites and cultural venues, his production also encompasses urban planning. Founder of Gonçalo Byrne Arquitectos office, he is a guest Professor in Portugal as well as abroad. In 2005 he was distinguished with the honoris causa title by Universidade Técnica de Lisboa, and received the Cross of the Order of Infante D. Henrique and the Great Order of Santiago de Espada from the President of the Portuguese Republic.

CHILDREN’S PROGRAMS
6 TO 12 YEARS OF AGE
EVERY MONDAY AND TUESDAY, 15H00
Starting on 6 October, special programs are in available to children aged 6 to 9 ( every Monday, at 15H00) and 10 to 12 (every Tuesday, at 15H00).
Organized in collaboration with Ordem dos Arquitectos, this program includes guided tours followed by learning activities.

GUIDED TOURS
With an average duration of 50 minutes, the visits are accessible to adult audiences of all levels. For students, graduates and professionals, the tours are adapted to each groups’ specific needs and dynamics. To fully enjoy the screening of the video installations, participants are welcome to remain in the exhibition space once the visit has ended.

To book a visit, please contact us by email or telephone. To confirm it – pending confirmation of availability by us – please proceed with payment by bank transference. The transference statement should then be forwarded to us by email or fax together with the reservation form, duly filled out.
