Professor and Director of the Centre for Globalizaton and Governance (CG&G) at the Faculty of Economics, Universidade Nova de Lisboa, President of IICT – Tropical Knowledge and member of the Lisbon Academy of Science. He is also Associate Professor at the Institut d'Etudes Politiques in Paris, NBER Research Associate, CEPR Research Fellow and member of the International Board of Governors of the Centre for International Governance Innovation (CIGI). He served as Director for National Economies at the European Commission in Brussels, Minister of Finance for Portugal, President of the Parliamentary Committee for European Affairs and President of the OECD Development Centre.
