EXD'13 AT THE LISBON AIRPORT
IN SEPTEMBER

The theme of this year's Biennale, NO BORDERS, establishes an unmistakable connection with travel and the crossing of borders. Airports represent fundamental public spaces for this unstoppable transit that marks our global world. EXD'13 presents the first project of the Biennale, consisting of an exhibition in the Lisbon Airport, which will inaugurate in September.

FROM HERE TO SOMEWHERE is located in the Central Square of Terminal 1, and its theme focuses on food and movement. It presents an array of objects that have been purposely designed for the transportation, preservation and consumption of food products and beverages. Containing pieces produced by national or international companies through known or anonymous designers, FROM HERE TO SOMEWHERE explores the conceptual versatility of design and its ability to respond to the most basic need of our species.

Following this first project, don't forget to schedule the Opening Week of EXD'13 Lisboa in your diary,
from the 7th to the 10th of November.

EXD MAG
A new way of discovering the Biennale

Continuing its process of innovation, in September experimentadesign will launch EXD MAG, a new digital publication that provides an in-depth view of the contents of EXD'13. Created by the team of the Biennale with the (e) Mix Media unit, EXD MAG explores new revolutionary software that is still in a development stage. It provides an interactive experience that offers detailed information about the conceptual framework of the theme of the Biennale - NO BORDERS - and the specific exhibitions, open talks, conferences, urban interventions and tangent projects in a unique way.

Furthermore, it is an essential guide that contains a plethora of useful information, maps and profiles of the many international participants that make up the fabric of this event. Available for download through the Apple App Store and Newsstand, EXD MAG is structured in a format where the contents of the publication will be supplied through free updates as more information becomes available, allowing for subscribers to follow the process and development of the Biennale.

EXD BIENNALE PRESENTED AS A CASE-STUDY AT THE GLOBAL DESIGN FORUM IN LONDON

EXD will be presented by its Director Guta Moura Guedes during the next edition of the Global Design Forum, which will take place on the 16th and 17th of September in London, integrated into the programme of the London Design Festival.

Invited by the organization to participate in one of the event's main debates, Guta Moura Guedes will explore the Biennale's relationship with the city, in a discussion chaired by Steve Bloomfield, Foreign Editor of Monocle magazine, that will focus on the growing populations of urban centres and the ways in which creative design is fundamental for a successful and innovative process of adaptation and for the positioning of cities themselves.

The Global Design Forum is the pre-eminent thought leadership event for design. It brings together the brightest brains from across the design industry as well as those from other sectors to explore and debate the powerful and pressing issues facing design in the contemporary world.
