OPENING OF THE “POLAROID” EXHIBITION,
AT LISBON GALLERY DESIGN & ARCHITECTURE BY EXPERIMENTADESIGN  With the Polaroid exhibition, which opened the 21st of March, the Lisbon Gallery Design & Architecture gives visibility to a selection of 13 projects with strong personalities, developed by a group of designers who represent part of a new generation operating in Portugal. Bruno Carvalho, Eneida Tavares, Geckeler Michels, Gonçalo Campos, João Margarido, Jorge Carreira, Joschua Brunn, Manuel Amaral Netto, Paulo Sellmayer, Rita Martins and Vítor Agostinho were born between 1974 and 1993 and they are fully aware of the contemporary everyday life. Their proposals adapt to the various routines of daily life, whether they are of professional, domestic, social or leisure nature, allowing the aesthetic component to play an important role, emphasizing today's eclecticism. Being a group of national and international designers, they express their preference for the Portuguese production – with the exception of Imperial Marker Set project, all the exhibited pieces were produced in Portugal – leading to an image of renovation and amplification of the Portuguese design market. Polaroid presents objects that reveal a different nature on the materials in which they were made or bring new points of view about their own functions, adding new uses to them or to other objects. The fact that most of the pieces are manufactured, gives them also a very distinctive identity, bringing new dimensions to this daily life massification. Polaroid was also a reason for Lisbon Gallery Design & Architecture to commission the Polaroid series project, a limited edition of pictures by Nuno Sousa Dias. The photographer, born in 1982 and who has also an Industrial Design degree, produced 200 Polaroid records of the objects exhibited in the gallery in Lisbon. Each piece, or group of pieces, was photographed 5 times over 48 hours, allowing to commercialize a limited edition of different and isolated records.
