Strengthening the cultural dissemination of the EXD'15 Biennale within the community, the Education Service takes on a mediating role between the public and its contents, stimulating interest in contemporary creative practices.

Ever evolving, this year the Education Service presents some changes. Continuing the legacy established since its creation in 1999, of promoting the contextualization and critical interpretation of the exhibited contents along with the creation of a continuous dialogue, this year it is also a laboratory for experimentation. Seeking to broaden knowledge and thought in the areas of design, architecture and project culture by creating activities that complement curricular and professional directions, where debate, reflexion and training are the fundamental starting points.

The Education Service of the Biennale maintains its objectives and main characteristics, reaching audiences of different interests and ages, and will be divided in two axis: Lisbon and North.

In 2015 we will conduct the usual Guided Tours with specialized guides, by appointment and specifically tailored to different types of visitor. However, one of the highlights this year is the introduction of a training component, geared towards an adult audience ranging from students to professionals, who have a specific interest in the areas of action of the Biennale.

This training model favours short and intensive formats, encompassing workshops, short courses, debates and conferences, with specialized professionals allowing for a consolidated transmission of knowledge. Thus, the Education Service means to update and stimulate the skills of the active population, also reaching audiences outside the field of design.
