The program departs from the idea of residue – the films presented deal with what stays and remains of things, with the transmission of the techniques employed in their making, but also with abandonment, the materials that stay, their importance and repercussion on the present. The program approaches the theme in various ways: it evokes the “biography of things”, the way they are made; it speaks about the preservation of gestures and objects, it focuses on what remains of production (dust, for instance), the traces, fossils, but also the direct, harmful and permanent consequences of industrial activity. It seeks also to evoke that which is a residual force of history and memory and how both resonate in urban spaces and their ruins.
