Mobility is one of the characteristics that most defines our human nature and conditions our existence. We need only look at the history of humanity to understand that we have always dreamt of surpassing, arriving, reaching and discovering. This innate desire has driven us to achieve incredible feats, conquering the earth, the sea and even space.

Engrained in our DNA, this ambition and curiosity is present in our everyday lives, even if on a different scale. Stemming from our creative abilities, we have created means and tools that allow for and facilitate this permanent (and increasing) state of mobility. Within this context, the creation of objects for the transportation of food is paramount, whether for our well-being and comfort, or in more extreme cases, to guarantee our survival.

Drawing on these concepts, this exhibition presents an array of objects that have been purposely designed for the transportation, preservation and consumption of food products, representing systems that are easy to use and that are essentially portable in their weight and volume.
The creation and production of devices for this type of transportation has become rooted into our social and cultural dimensions. Crucial to our survival and lifestyle, these objects are embodied by their functions and their ability to adapt to different spatial, economic or geographic circumstances and conditions.

Showing from items that respond to traditional specificities, to urban leisure activities and professional needs, among many others, this exhibition is comprised by portable and functional objects that have been designed to accompany our daily requirements for nourishment.

From Here to Somewhere portrays an array of objects created for a given context and specific functionality, along with different examples of objects that fall into the same category, and provides a close look at how the form and function of these articles mirror the context for which they were intended and how they reflect our habits and rituals.

Ranging from lunch-boxes to coolers, and objects adapted to military and spatial activity, these devices are clear examples of the versatility and reach of design and how creative and production processes have responded to our needs, from the most basic to the most specific.
